a bit of painting...
We took this (bought off Craigslist over 1 year ago):

And did this with it:

Brian built the top shelf to put our vcr and dvd players in.

I made a skirty thing out of a vintage pillowcase I found at Goodwill.

The blue goes perfectly with the yellow walls and my wonderful curtains. (ignore the ugly plugs, they will be gone soon.)
The blue is a Farrow & Ball color that I had color matched at Lowe's. I painted a red first, then the blue and then sanded it so some of the red would show through. I really like how it turned out.
Speaking of painting...I'm getting ready to paint my dining room again. First it was peach, then I painted it green and now I'll be painting it grey. I just need to pick the perfect grey and boy is that hard! The hallway leading to the bedroom and bathroom will be the same grey. My favorite color combination right now is yellow/grey/silver. I'm not sure why.
Oh and here is my birthday present.

When we moved into this house over 2 years ago, I saw this painting in a local antiques store. I loved it but didn't buy it. I was just thinking about it the other day when Brian decided to make a trip down the that same antiques store. He called to tell me they still had it and it was on sale, marked down $25 from the original price. So here she is! She's hanging on the yellow wall that used to be red. She needs some sort of decoration around her but I'm not sure what.
We're almost done with the school room makeover so I'll show you some pics next week. It turned out wonderful!

What a lovely cupboard you made there! I really like the colours!
And that painting,so lovely to be able to buy it even after 2 years, lucky girl you are!
Nice paint job! I love to see how a coat of paint can transform furniture. Love your blog, by the way. Very inspiring.
Amy--
Your blog is really great. And you are so creative. I will definitely check back in for schoolroom photos! (And what a great birthday present!)
Seeing your new photos, I thought you might be interested in checking out a photo/video sharing website for families I recently started working with --WWW.PHANFARE.COM--as it has heightened security and privacy specifically geared toward families. At the same time, it is SUPER easy to upload photos with the desktop client (you actually don't even upload, it just syncs). Anyway, I can go on and on - but thought you might be interested in checking it out -- and your readers might be interested in your thoughts as well!
Let me know if you have any questions, or would like to borrow my login and password to see how it all works. Thanks for blogging and being an inspiration!
