my almost present

See what I unwrapped last night? I've been wanting an Ipod for awhile to listen to podcasts while I sew. Obviously I can't get one right now so imagine my surprise when this little gem was bundled with a delicious chocolate bar.
Brian explained that he found it on a walk a week ago. He posted a "found" notice on Craigslist and no one contacted him. So he gave it to me. I got to looking around on it and found a few pictures and one was a house I recognized. So this morning I took a walk and found the house. I'm happy that the Ipod will make it back to its owner but sad because I really want it. It's even my favorite color ;)
So when we take our family walk this afternoon, we'll stop by the house and see if it is indeed theirs. So it was my almost present.
**Update: We stopped by the house and the mom told us she didn't even know her daughter had lost her ipod. Ooops. However she recognized it right away and thanked us. She seemed surprised that anyone would take the time to return it, which is sad. So the tale has ended with no ipod for me but a great lesson in honesty for the kids and that is a great present.

Your present was really the gift of teaching your children honesty and integrity -- a gift that is sure to beof great value to them through the years. Much more permanent than a temporary electronic amusement. So, really, you got a wonderful gift. (though an i-pod you can keep wouldn't be too bad either). :)
I agree with the comment left by Jillbert - it's a much better gift knowing that your children were able to witness honesty first hand. I hope you get your own ipod soon. Happy Valentine's Day!
